Planning Between Versatility and Focus
I am versatile, polyglot, curious – and that is both my greatest strength and my biggest challenge. When something inspires me, ideas appear immediately. Many ideas. Often too many at once.
The problem doesn’t start with the big tasks, but with the small ones. This “just quickly do this first” before starting what really matters. Quickly writing something down, looking something up, implementing an idea because it “only takes a moment”.
And then it happens: a few minutes turn into hours. The day moves on, my energy drops – and suddenly there isn’t enough time left in the day to get everything done. Since almost all of my important tasks have to be done daily, everything starts to pile up. This is exactly where my planning for February begins.
In the end, as a versatile polyglot, it is extremely difficult for me to focus on what is truly important. I notice this especially when a thousand ideas suddenly come to mind and I remember things I absolutely want to do right away because they “won’t take long”. The idea is always: just do this quickly, then I’ll start with the important task. But that is exactly the problem. There is always another idea, another small task that seems quick to do before I start the important work. And suddenly, a few hours are gone.
Why the Minimum Standard Is Crucial for Me
That’s why it is extremely important to me – and something I’ve been trying to implement for several months now – to complete the daily minimum standard first.
At the same time, my day needs to start calmly. I take medication to sleep, and its effects last well into the morning. A hectic start doesn’t work for me. I have found the right structure for myself, and I am firmly convinced that from this month on, I can achieve what I’ve set out to do.
My Fixed Daily Structure in February 2026
My structure now looks like this:
- Breakfast at the café
- 1 hour of learning partnership
- 2 hours of cleaning work
- 2 hours of walking
During my walks, I dictate the Dreamy Tiny House Diary into my phone. Yay, alliteration!
After that:
- Showering and changing clothes
- Lunch
- Minimum standard
In the evening:
- 7:30 pm live
- 9:00 pm another learning partnership (not every day)
Planning With Trackers Instead of Daily To-Do Pages
To make my life easier, I decided not to use a new planner page for each day anymore. For February, I defined that I have one separate page for each subscription, as well as for free content and administrative tasks, which I use as trackers.
Tracker – with an A – comes from the English verb “to track”, meaning to follow or keep track of progress. Each day, I simply mark what I have completed on each of these pages. I always start with the course.
I already created a draft in January. However, if I’m going to use something for an entire month, a nice design really matters to me. That’s why I will redesign each of these pages calmly and carefully, using a ruler and pleasant colors.
Why My February Doesn’t Match the Calendar Month
What matters is that there are 30 fields each month, because there are 30 live sessions every month.
My months are structured around the live sessions. For me, February already starts on January 31 and ends on March 1.
There are 360 live sessions per year. The last five days of December are free. Because of this, the live months do not exactly match the calendar months.
Focus for February: Planning Realistically and Staying Consistent
My February planning is not an attempt to do more. It is an attempt to reduce distraction, create clarity, and build consistent routines.
For me, as a versatile polyglot, it is extremely difficult to limit myself to what matters most. That is exactly why the minimum standard is so important to me. First the minimum standard, then everything else. Not the other way around.
What Comes Next
Now I’ll show you what these trackers actually look like.
