A long-term multimedia language course in novel form
The course Relaxed to A1 is a comprehensive, multi-year multimedia language course designed as a novel.
It consists of 169 sections, 144 of which are full novel sections. The novel is complemented by an organizational introduction, one introduction for each of the twelve chapters, and an evaluation at the end of every chapter.
At the center is a continuous learning novel.
People from different countries work together on a project called Noah’s Ark during a time of global crises. The story is not only about cooperation, responsibility, and humanity, but also about the question of whether artificial intelligence can become human.
The novel provides an emotional, philosophical, and at the same time everyday framework in which language is experienced naturally.
Bilingual learning – relaxed, contextual, sustainable
The course is deliberately designed as bilingual, because this is exactly where its special strength lies.
On every page, you see one sentence in two languages. This allows you to learn directly in context and develop a real feel for the language.
Individual words often have multiple meanings. Only within the context of a complete sentence does it become clear which word is actually used in the target language. This quickly shows that literal translation does not make sense. Instead, a genuine sense of the language develops step by step.
By reading along while listening to native-speaker audio, you learn naturally and without accent.
Learning remains relaxed because nothing can get lost. Everything is always visible, audible, and comparable.
In addition to the bilingual versions, monolingual editions are also available.
Multimedia structure of each novel section
Each password-protected blog article for a novel section consists of five fixed parts.
Part 1 – Relaxation
At the beginning, you will find nature sounds and relaxation music as audio files.
They support relaxation and enhance the learning process by activating areas of the brain that facilitate learning.
You can listen to them before learning, in between, or during your study time.
From Part 2 onward
In all following parts, you will find audio, text, and video to support multimedia learning and full focus on the material.
Part 2 – The novel section
The actual bilingual learning novel.
Part 3 – Vocabulary lists
There are a total of four vocabulary lists:
• two related to the novel section (one verb list, one noun list)
• two related to the exercises with solutions (again, one verb list and one noun list)
The vocabulary lists are not bilingual, because individual words often have multiple meanings.
Their sole purpose is pronunciation practice.
Learning the actual meaning takes place in the context of the bilingual novel.
Part 4 – Exercises with solutions
Each section contains three exercises:
• one exercise relates directly to the novel section
• two exercises relate to the learning goals of that section
The learning goals are stated at the beginning of the novel section and are also summarized in the chapter introduction.
Part 5 – Additional mediabook
At the end, you will find a button linking to a separate password-protected blog article with the additional mediabook.
This mediabook also includes audio, text, and video and can be purchased separately in the shop, independent of the course.
Introductions and evaluations
In addition to the novel sections, there are further organizational sections:
• one organizational introduction at the very beginning of the course
• one introduction per chapter explaining the chapter’s learning goals
• one evaluation at the end of each chapter
These sections contain no exercises and therefore only two vocabulary lists (nouns and verbs).
There is no additional mediabook for these sections.
Instead, you can choose between two options:
• a six-language text edition of the 365 Steps Online Magazine
• a six-language text edition of the Dreamy Tiny House Diary
In each case, you receive one edition that is not part of the course.
Simply let me know which edition you would like.
The course subscription – flexible and fair
The course is offered as a subscription in one of 36 language combinations.
You decide which language is your source language.
Trilingual learning
If you speak German, are comfortable with English, and want to learn French, you can choose the English–French version of the course. Instead of the German shop, you will find this version in the English shop. Simply go to the menu and select English – Shop.
This way, you can compare the new language not only with your native language, but also with another familiar language.
Your subscription automatically starts with the next section you do not yet own.
If you have already purchased individual sections in the shop, your subscription will begin exactly where you left off.
