Two packing lists – with one laughing and one crying eye

It feels strange to move house and plan a trip at the same time.
    Two lists, two worlds.
One for the life that stays here – and one for the life that soon heads north.

I’m packing with one laughing and one crying eye:
laughing because an adventure is waiting for me –
crying because I’m saying goodbye to mountain streams, the lake and the mountains, where I went hiking far too rarely, even though they were right in front of me.

While others first try to settle in after a move, I’m already deep in the next preparation before the move: two packing lists, two destinations – but only one body that has to carry it all. 😅

From December on, it will also be published on Mona’s Home on Wheels.

    Which trip?
Take a look here – you’ll find the destination, why I’m flying there and how long it is until we start:

🎒 Suitcase size, weight & hand luggage

I looked at everything very carefully.

My checked baggage may weigh up to 23 kg, my hand luggage 8 kg, plus a small personal item with a laptop or camera.

The suitcase Lukas brings me on moving day to lend me is a standard size – about 65 × 45 × 25 cm – so there’s enough space for clothes, books and a few food items without exceeding the weight limit.

The large handbag (45 × 18 × 33 cm) counts as hand luggage – perfect for my MacBook, iPad, camera, power banks and all the cables.

And because I really wanted to know, I did the math – and at least theoretically weighed everything.
The result: everything fits. And I stay within the limits. ✅

    🛂 Passport or ID card?

Of course, I also researched whether I need a passport or a visa for Norway –
    and luckily, I don’t! 🇳🇴

Norway is not an EU member, so we’ll have to exchange euros, but it is part of the Schengen area.
That means: a valid national ID card is completely sufficient.

A small but very welcome moment of relief – otherwise I would have had to apply for a passport now.

In the end, it’s not just kilos and lists –
it’s small pieces of life that move into boxes and suitcases.
    One stays, the other travels.
And I’m right in the middle – with one laughing and one crying eye. 💜
